FAQs > NVQ > What Equipment Do I Need?

Search the FAQ for entries containing:

One of the advantages of the NVQ system is that students answer the course requirements in their own chosen area of work, whether that is portraiture, wedding, sports, landscape or any other sphere of photography. So the equipment you need to start the course is just the equipment you’re using now!

As you progress through the course, you might well choose to buy more gear or upgrade your equipment,  but for now, as long as you have a digital camera – ideally a DSLR or at least a ‘bridge’ category camera, maybe a hot-shoe flash unit, hopefully a tripod and access to a computer loaded with one of the image-manipulating applications such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, iPhoto, Lightroom or Aperture, then you’re set to start the course.
